Sigmund Neuberger, Also known as his Stagename. 'The Great Lafayette'. Was a Famous Illusionist and Escapist, In his time he was the Highest Paid Magician of his time (Even more highly paid then Houdini). He was a German, though his family moved to the USA during his childhood.
Neuberger was due to Preform in What would become the Edinburgh Festival Theatre (The Empire Palace Theatre) in 1911, Whilst he was staying in the Theatre his Well Loved pet, a Small Terrier named Beauty, Beauty was a gift to him by None other then Harry Houdini himself. Died, Ofcourse Lafayette was Upset. And decided that he would refuse to preform unless His dog was buried in the Important Piershill Cematary. Although the edinburgh council did not like the idea they reached an agreement. Beauty was to be aloud to be buried in the Cemetary on condition that Sigmund Neuberger be buried there himself. When He passed away.
The Coincidence of this factor is this, Four days later. When Neuberger was Preforming his signature act, 'the Lions Bride'. In Witch he appeared to turn himself and his Assistant into a Lion. The lamps above the stage suffered an electrical Malfunction and they Exploded. Sending Sparks raining down on the stage, The Stage Caught Fire almost Immediatly. Soon the whole demonstration was engulfed, The audience done nothing. They thought it was part of the show, that was until the Orchastra where Signalled to play God save the King. This Piece of music (Britains National Anthem), Was Usualy played to Signal Tragety, The Devasted audience left.
Ten Of the preformers (Including Lafayette) Died, As did Eighteen of the people Backstage. As a result of the fire, The body they decided was tht of Neuberger was sent to be Cremated (Despite the Councils promise). However, The Real body of Sigmund Neuberger was found in he Understage, Trap-door Compartment, two days later. They Decided to but Neubergers Body in Priershill, Next to his dog, Beauty.
Since that Point, People have seen a tall Shadow-like Vortex, and Often a Sillouette. Believed to be the Great Layaffette, This Figure is seen all around the Edinburgh Festival Theatre.
